The name of most
peace groups helps highlight one major difference. Great organizations,
like Grandmothers for Peace, are composed of a subset of people who in
this case happen to be grandmothers. We think groups aligned with
professions, interests, or phases of life are wonderful. Teach Peace
provides resources and services to schools, churches, and other organizations to help magnify
their impact because we are service organization for
both individuals and groups.
The organization is
the result of grass root calls to reach peace by teaching peace. Often readers of the American Hiroshima book would finish the book
with the question, "what can I do to make a difference?" In 2006
a series of
"blueprint for peace" meetings were held in northern California
leading to the creation of the Teach Peace Foundation.
A few of the key individuals in the formation of this
organization include Ruben Arvizu, Dave Dionisi, Mary Anne Kirsch, Richard Lees, Michael Pach, Nancy Patterson, and Mary
Wind.
