  • January 15, 2008 - Uncounted: The New Math of American Elections explains a very real threat to America's democracy. The film is at 5:30 pm and 8 pm.   • January 16, 2008 - 11:45 am to 1 pm Progressive Business Network introduction in Davis, CA.

  • January 16, 2008 - A 6 to 8 pm class with Scott Ritter and Jeff Cohen. The class is on why a US attack on Iran may happen in 2008. The instruction will provide students with information to help them ask members of Congress to stop this war before it starts. The class is at John F.   • January 25, 2008 - A 12:30 pm Burbank High School Teach Peace club meeting in Sacramento on Iraq and the Department of Peace. In advance of the class, please review http://www.teachpeace.com/doppres.pdf.

  • January 30, 2008 - Noon Teach Peace class at Davis High School. We will have people who are originally from Iran, Israel, and Iraq as part of the class to deepen our understanding of other countries.   • February 1 - 5, 2008 - Teach Peace Leadership Development in Washington, DC. This trip is to provide students with sufficient background to meet with members of Congress on peace issues important to them. Click here for more information.

  • February 15, 2008 - A 9 - midnight Jim Page concert at Luna's Cafe. The location is 1414 16th Street in Sacramento. Jim wrote a song tribute to Rachael Cory on the "Peace Now" CD compiled by Teach Peace members Paul and Candy Anderson. Opening for Jim Page is the Citizen's Band from Washington state. The event is $12 at the door and provides peace education via talented musicians.

  • March 9-10, 2008 - Television broadcast of Teach Peace Foundation hosted "What Mainstream Media Don't Tell Us About Iran, Iraq, and U.S. Foreign Policy." This 86.5 minute Media Edge broadcast features Scott Ritter, a former UN weapons inspector in Iraq, and Jeff Cohen, founder of Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR). Viewers can access the Media Edge video magazine series presented on cable access channels in the greater Sacramento area. Monday's broadcast is starts at 12:06 pm and Tuesday's broadcast starts at 4:06 pm. The broadcast is also available online at http://www.teachpeace.com/rittercohen.htm.
     

  • March 12, 2008 - A 10 am "Leaders" meeting at the American Friends Service Committee at 65 Ninth Street in San Francisco, CA. Followed by a noon "Leaders" phone discussion.

  • March 24, 2008 - A 8 pm Soapbox television show on Understanding 9/11. This is Channel 17 in the Sacramento area. Teach Peace's Dave Dionisi makes the case that the victims of 9/11 deserved to have the unanswered questions answered. His perspective on this point is supported by the two chairmen of the 9/11 Commission, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton. In addition, former FBI Director Louis Freeh wrote in the Wall Street Journal (November 17, 2005) that there are inaccuracies in the 9/11 report and "questions that need answers."   • January 6, 2007 - Monthly Meeting from 1 to 3 pm.  Cedar Seeger performed the song “Stop the War,” which came to him after seeing mothers mourning the loss of their children due to war. We reviewed the new Nuclear Weapons 101 video. We installed a new membership management technology that will enable us to facilitate volunteer activities and overall communicate more effectively.

This event was to remember that August 6 and 9 are the 62nd anniversaries of the detonation of the atomic bombs. This is a time to reflect about this unnecessary action (click here for why) and demand nonviolent alternatives for current wars. Join us for a dialogue on current issues facing the progressive movements and their allies in our region. The Progressive Forum seeks to bring together scholars, students, social justice and union activists, and policy makers to nurture a new kind of conversation from within the campus and the social movements. This forum aims to enhance personal and organizational ties between those engaged in ongoing workplace and community organizing efforts.   • October 4-13 - International Week of Protest to Stop the Militarization of Space. Teach Peace is making Arsenal of Hypocrisy available to schools to provide education on this great threat to humanity.

  • October 11 - A 1 - 3 pm American Hiroshima "First Casualty of War" presentation for the  Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (UC Davis Extension).at the Davis Arts Center about American imperialism and how to regain American moral stature in the shrinking world. The presentation will share how we can lessen the chance of other violent attacks and find nonviolent solutions to our most pressing and dangerous problems.
