Education That Demands Action - The real reason Scooter Libby wasn't pardoned

A key reason for the commuting of Scooter's sentence is so that he can still claim the 5th Amendment in subsequent investigations of Bush, Rove, and Cheney. In addition, Scooter has an appeal pending. A pardon now would have allowed Scooter to be forced to testify without limitation although he has proven that lying is a possible path for him. Expect a pardon immediately after the November 2008 election.

When you hear that attempting to impeach the President is a waste of time remember that an active impeachment process is beneficial for several reasons to include the US Constitution shuts off the option of a pardon during an ongoing impeachment process.

Teach Peace founding member Jimmy Spearow recently wrote the below about this situation when a president pardons to cover up his own crimes.

James Madison and George Mason, founding fathers of the US Constitution, were concerned that a President might use his pardoning power to "pardon crimes which were advised by himself", or to "stop inquiry and prevent detection" of such crimes.  The remedy they insisted on for such presidential abuse of power was impeachment, especially "if the President be connected, in any suspicious manner, with any person, and there be grounds to believe he will shelter him."

The founding fathers would be extremely concerned about commuting Scooter Libby's sentence.  Libby was part of a Bush/Cheney White House plan: 1) to lie about Iraqi WMDs to justify an invasion of Iraq; 2) to retaliate against Joseph Wilson for revealing the Bush lie about Iraq uranium smuggling - by illegally revealing that Wilson's wife was an undercover CIA agent; 3) to cover up the Bush and Cheney White House role in the treasonous outing of this (and other) undercover CIA agents; and then, 4) to obstruct the investigation of the cover up.  By commuting Libby's sentence, Bush subverted the rule of law by sheltering and rewarding Libby for obstructing the investigation of the Bush/Cheney role in the cover up. The founding fathers were clear that a President who pardons to cover up his own crimes should be impeached!

Will US citizens and elected representatives sit idly by while our Constitution and democracy are corrupted, or stand up to preserve what the founding fathers worked so hard to establish?

We are left wondering if Valerie Plame's cover was also blown because her CIA WMD non-proliferation team focused on Iran, intercepted a false flag operation orchestrated out of the Vice President's office. Specifically, are reports accurate that Cheney attempted to get nuclear parts to Iran through the black market so that he could justify starting a war with Iran.

In the American Hiroshima book and by the Los Angeles Times on March 26, 2005, the attempted delivery to Iran of 200 US-made precision electronic switches designed to detonate nuclear weapons was revealed. The American people deserve to know if this failed false flag operation was primary reason Scooter's sentence was commuted? War with Iran is certainly still on the table and knowing the truth about this one Cheney episode could prevent a war with Iran. This issue is extremely serious and as reported in the Teach Peace July newsletter, key people in the White House continue to discuss attacking Iran.

Valerie Plame will release a book called "Fair Game." While her book is subject to a mandatory review by the CIA, there is a chance the world will learn that her cover was blown because of her work intercepting the sale of nuclear triggers to Iran.
