We continue to expand our
membership and deliver fantastic education
to people of all ages. For example, on
3/27/08, Teach Peace students at John F.
Kennedy High School in
Sacramento educated over 400 students
in six sessions. The subject was the use of
the first atomic bombs and why leaders like
General Dwight D. Eisenhower opposed
dropping the atomic bombs.

about what was presented to the students.
The new Leaders program
is being favorably received in
San Francisco. We are early in
the process and excited about the
opportunity to offer this leadership
education and training curriculum. To
learn more, visit the
Leaders section and read the
Program of Instruction. Below
are some of the source materials in this
720 hour program.

IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN
On 3/19/08 Teach Peace student
Wafa Sultani led a peace luminary lighting in
Sacramento. The media covered the event
and Wafa's efforts were published the following
day on the front page of the
Sacramento Bee.
The 5th
anniversary of the Iraq War was unfortunately
accompanied a few days later with the 4,000th
murdered American soldier.
Teach Peace friend Dahr Jamil's article, 'Handed
Over' to a Government Called Sadr,
is highly recommended. The truth about the
failed
Iraq surge is presented in a calm and
factual manner. The truth is American
military commanders are frustrated because
they are following "political" orders that
give the illusion of reduced violence at the
expense of actions that could actually
produce a positive outcome. Unfortunately,
the war in Afghanistan is also headed in the
wrong direction. Frontline's Return of
the
Taliban documentary explains why
the fighting is getting worse.

IRAN
The march to war with
Iran unfortunately continues.
Admiral William Fallon, on record
that no war with
Iran would commence on his watch,
resigned as the leader of Central
Command. Fallon was the person standing
between
George W. Bush and the "bomb bomb
bomb, bomb bomb
Iran" policy. He refused to
support Bush plans to attack Iran's
nuclear facilities and his departure is
a reminder that war with
Iran is still a real possibility.
