December 2, 1- 3:30 PM Meeting Notes
Dear friends,
We had an exciting and fun meeting that started with an incredible "Just Imagine" video.
Recent accomplishments were reviewed and included the new Teach Peace book, a self-contained toolkit for The Happy Cricket, the Arsenal of Hypocrisy in the new monthly movie program, the Teach Peace website upgrades, the Daily Star Egypt articles, a recent High School presentation, the "2006 Military Commissions" article, the "Is There Reason To Be Concerned With War With Iran" article, and new training videos.
Upcoming events highlighted included four upcoming movie events. The first is The Ground Truth on Monday, December 4 at the Varsity Theater. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in the Teach Peace online store. The following week, on December 11 at 7 p.m., Dr. Strangelove is presented in the Davis Library Blanchard Room (Davis Peace Coalition sponsored and Dave Dionisi will give a presentation). In addition, we also highlighted the December 14, 2006 7 p.m. showing of 9/11 and the American Empire at the Davis Library Blanchard Room.
The primary focus of this meeting was to review the final 2007 business plan. A few changes and corrections were made to the plan. The updated 2007 business plan is available on this site, click here as the 55 pages of slides are comprehensive so we won't repeat in the notes what is written on the slides.
The idea submission process was reviewed and the concept of a suggestion box was added to this toolkit (click here to go to it).
As a reminder, DCTV will show the program "Loose Change 2nd Edition" at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 11. The "Loose Change 2nd Edition" video, along with many other videos on the 9/11 subject, are available for free in the Teach Peace Video section.
Monthly meetings in 2007 are "Teach Peace" program working meeting. Often the focus will be on training sessions to improve program implementation and to share experiences delivering programs.
This summer we agreed to shorten the meeting from 1 to 3:30 p.m. (a reduction of 1 hour) and have members use the Listserve for announcements or write announcements which may be read by the meeting facilitator. We made this change because of a reoccurring experience in the prior four meetings where general announcements typically took about 45 minutes of the meeting time. In this meeting, I strayed from this policy and as a result I had to take the video Before You Enlist off the meeting agenda. Therefore, in January, we will return to our standing announcements policy.
Since the 2007 monthly meetings are working meetings, announcements are more appropriate on the Listserve or for awareness raising events (i.e., when a Teach Peace member is conducting a "Teach Peace" program).
The meeting concluded with training on The Happy Cricket program.
Sincerely, Dave Dionisi
